Service
Corps (Grade Depends on Project)
Once a month, youth will have the opportunity to participate in a
special service project. Events include serving at the Ark Homeless shelter,
sorting cans at Wake Relief, or gleaning fields in the country. Contact

High School Spring Break Mission Trip (9th-12th Graders)
Sunday, April 4 - Thursday, April 8, 2004. Application process will be January
23-February 2. During five days of Spring Break, participants will ground themselves in Washington, DC. By worshipping, working, and playing with folks committed to homeless ministry,
youth will develop a greater awareness of issues affecting the urban context and grow in spiritual depth to deal with them.
(Limit: 12 youth)
Middle School Spring Break Mission Trip (6th - 8th Graders)
Sunday, April 4-Wednesday, April 7, 2004. Application process will
be January 23-February 2. Join us for a half-week of mission work in Charlotte, NC. We will be participating in the CROSS program at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. (Limit 10 youth)
Summer
in the City (6th -7th Graders)
Tuesday, July 13-Friday, July 16,
2004. Application Process
is January 23-February 2. Sponsored by White Memorial Presbyterian Church,
this event gathers middle schoolers for three full days of service, devotion,
and fun in and around Raleigh. (Limit 30 youth)
Manteo to Murphy Mission Trip (8th Graders)
Sunday, July 25-Friday, July 30, 2004.
Application process is January 23-February 2. Rising
9th graders will work their way across the state, stopping for
service, rest, and recreation in towns along the way. From a beach sweep to
a home repair project in the mountains, youth will learn about the diversity
of Christian service and about the God who cares for folks "on their
way." (Limit: 12 youth)
Montreat Youth
Conference (9th-12th Graders)
Sunday, June 6-Saturday, June 12, 2004. Application process is
January 23-February 2. Contact
Amy Grant. WMPC youth will join
other youth from around the country for a week in the North Carolina
mountains near Asheville. The conference helps one to explore how God calls
each of us to be a new creature in Jesus Christ and to live a life of
service and faith. Through worship, fellowship, study and music, youth will
be challenged by and grow through faith.
Massanetta Middle School Conference (6th-8th Graders)
Tuesday, June 22-Friday, June 25, 2004. Application process is January
23-February 2. Massanetta Springs is a Presbyterian conference center
located in Harrisonburg, VA which offers several middle school conferences
over the Summer. This is a great opportunity to worship, sing, play,
recreate, hear wonderful keynote speakers and work in groups, all with the
goal of becoming closer to God and each other.
Haiti
Intergenerational Trip (8th - 12th Graders)
Sunday, May 30-Saturday, June 5, 2004.
Contact Brenda Halbrooks. Youth and their parents join together
to participate in the life and worship and service of the St. Joseph's Home
of Boys in Port-a Prince, Haiti. This home is a sanctuary for young folks
who have found their way out of the streets of the city and a congregation
for them as they seek to serve the city that once oppressed them.
Appalachia
Service Project (9th - 12th Graders)
TBA. Application process is January
23-February 2. ASP is a vehicle for Christian service through which
persons experience, share, and grow in God's grace through a program of
housing ministries. Summer 2004 will be White Memorial's 16th year to
participate. Somewhere in the mountains of Central Appalachia, youth will
find themselves building relationships as they seek to repair homes. (Limit 30 youth)
