Our Young Adults group is made up primarily of people in their 20s and 30s who want to share rich friendships and meet new people as we follow Jesus together. We strive to provide a point of connection to the church for both single and married folks, and we gladly welcome those who are new to the area or to the church. Come join us for some of our activities and watch the newsletter for other opportunities.
Sunday Morning Worship
Join us at 11 a.m. for worship each week in the Sanctuary. Stick around after the service to get to know your fellow Young Adults.
Wednesday Night Bible Study
We gather year-round for Bible Study on Wednesday Nights at 6:45 p.m. at the church. Our discussion group is always open to newcomers and regularly has both single and married folks in attendance. We are intentional in choosing a variety of different studies, and we emphasize thoughtful dialogue and prayer. Recent studies have included Philippians, Psalms, An Altar in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor, The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, The Orthodox Heretic by Peter Rollins, the Apostles' Creed, various works by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Cross-Shattered Christ by Stanley Hauerwas. Join us after Bible study each week for dinner at a local restaurant.
Are you interested in deepening your relationships with other young adults at White Memorial within a smaller community? Consider joining a small group! Each group has 6 to 8 members and meets twice a month for intentional conversation and prayer.
We go on two retreats per year - one in the fall and one in the spring. These weekends are a great way to get to know new people in the church, strengthen relationships with peers, and grow in your walk with God. Themes for recent past retreats have been storytelling (Fall 2013), and prayer (Spring 2014).
The 2014 fall retreat is scheduled for November 7-9 in Banner Elk. The theme is "Vocation". The cost is $75 per person. Contact Blake Daniel for more information.

College Ministry at White Memorial is our way to continue students' connections to this family of faith even when they may be attending colleges and universities outside the Triangle. We also offer opportunities for returning students to reconnect when they come back home. Please send your college student physical mailing address and email address to Tonya Higgins. Blake will send updates about college gatherings and the Montreat College Conference. As addresses change year to year, please send Tonya mail addresses and email addresses even if you think we already have it.
Our church family also sends care packages to our college students during the academic year. Please be in touch to be sure you (or your college-aged daughter or son) receive a care package.
