Claire Cox-Woodlief began serving as the Director of Operations at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in 2023 and became the Executive Director a year later. Her primary responsibilities include providing administrative leadership within the context of the community of faith to encourage responsible stewardship of the resources of staff, property, financial gifts, and members’ talents in the ministry of Jesus Christ. She provides administrative leadership, structure and support for staff, committees, and members, and manages church processes to advance the work of the church most effectively.
Claire has a Business Administration degree and is a graduate of the Two-Year Academy for Spiritual Formation. She is a certified Spiritual Director, a Qualified Administrator of the IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory), a Certified Facilitator of Sacred Conversations to End Racism (SC2ER) and was the Co-founder of The North Carolina Institute for Spiritual Direction and Formation. Claire is a Certified Lay Speaker in the North Carolina Conference of the UMC and has served as a delegate to Southeastern Jurisdictional and General Conferences of the UMC. She is on the Lay Servant Ministries Board in the Fairway District, is past Chair of the Board of Directors for NC United Methodist Camping and Retreat Ministries, past Chair of the Board of Church and Society of the NC Conference of the UMC and currently serves on the Board for Thrive Resource Center. She has been involved in anti-racism efforts in the UMC in local, district, conference levels and is on the Anti-Racism Discipleship Task Force for Discipleship Ministries. She is the retreat leader for the North Carolina Academy for Spiritual Formation.
She is married to David Woodlief, and they have three young adult children Jacob, Kali and Jonathan (Morgan). They have one granddaughter and another on the way! She enjoys reading, boating, and spending time with family and friends.
