Safe Sanctuary

Safe Sanctuary is an effort of White Memorial to ensure that our church is a safe and welcoming place for all children, youth and adults. The policy laid out within Safe Sanctuary helps minimize the risks of abuse happening within our church programs and helps protect adult leaders from possible false allegations of abuse.

White Memorial Presbyterian Church has adopted our own Safe Sanctuary policy which applies to all volunteers and staff. Additionally, all clergy are covered by the Presbyterian Church (USA) Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedures Clergy.

Training

Volunteers who work with children and youth must complete the following requirements:

  • Attend a WMPC sponsored Safe Sanctuary orientation event or view the following video that explains the policy
  • Read the policy and sign the Safe Sanctuary Affirmation Form
Send/submit the signed form to WMPC (scan/e-mail, snail mail, bring in person to W312)
  • View the video below that explains the Safe Sanctuary policy at WMPC. Viewing the video satisfies the orientation requirement for the policy. Please circle this option on the signature page to indicate completion.

NOTE: Completion of Safe Sanctuary training is now done annually. Our ‘year’ begins with Teacher Orientation in August and runs through the next August.
