Church Membership

Joining White Memorial Presbyterian Church

Membership in the Church of Jesus Christ is a joy and a privilege. It is also a commitment—specifically, a commitment to participate in Christ’s mission and ministry in the world by loving and proclaiming God’s good news and serving our neighbors.

Here at White Memorial Presbyterian Church (WMPC), we use the term “Worship + 3” to indicate our hope and expectations of membership engagement:

Worship – A commitment to worship regularly at WMPC. We define “regularly” as 3-4 Sundays a month, either in person or online.

+ Inhale – Invest in at least one area of ministry or program of the church where you are offered restoration, vitality, and nourishment for your spiritual life.

+ Exhale – Invest in at least one area of ministry or program of the church where you can serve, lead, and/or put the skills, talents, and interests God has gifted you with into action through the mission and ministry of WMPC.

+ Give – A commitment to participating in the life and ministry of our church through financial giving.

White Memorial Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and member of New Hope Presbytery.

How do I join?

We are so glad you found us and are interested in joining the vibrant family of faith that is White Memorial Presbyterian Church! All who are seeking to join WMPC attend one of our Believing and Belonging new member classes, which are held four Sundays per year.

Starting at 12:15 p.m., you and others interested in joining, will share lunch together alongside pastors and other WMPC staff and leaders. Following lunch, you will meet to talk more about what it means to be a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and specifically White Memorial Presbyterian Church.

The following Sunday, you will meet with members of our session prior to worship, where you will be invited to answer the questions for membership and join the church in one of the following ways:

  • Reaffirmation of Faith: You have been a member of another church but have not been active in recent years.
  • Letter of Transfer: You have been recently active as a member of another church.
  • Profession of Faith and Baptism: You have never been baptized.
  • Profession of Faith: You have been baptized but have never joined a church.
  • Affiliate Membership: You are living here temporarily (student, seasonal resident, etc.) and wish to be active at WMPC while still maintaining membership at your home church.
