Austin Vernon, a native North Carolinian, is a graduate of Davidson College and Princeton Theological Seminary. During his college and seminary years, he served in various youth ministry roles. He comes to WMPC from Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines, NC, where he served as the Director of Discipleship and Missions before being called as the Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Missions.
Austin is passionate about missions, teaching, ecumenical relationships, and worship leadership. He strongly believes in Christ’s call to proximity as we serve and work alongside our neighbors, both at home and abroad.
Austin is married to his best friend, Abbey, a fellow Davidson College graduate. Abbey works as a human resources professional for a masonry company. They have a toddler son named Wesley, and three beloved dogs. In his free time, Austin enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
