Washington, DC African American History Pilgrimage

September 18 - 19

Date/Time: Friday, September 18 (early morning departure) – Saturday, September 19 (later evening arrival)
Cost: $320 single occupancy | $250 double occupancy plus additional expenses
Registration deadline: Friday, July 31 so that we can reserve museum tickets on time

What to expect:

Join the WMPC M.O.R.E. Team (Ministry on Racial Equity) for our fourth African American History Pilgrimage, this time to Washington, DC!

We will meet in the Dover Rd. parking lot, early Friday morning, and drive the church bus (max capacity 15) to Washington, DC, where we will spend time visiting the home of Frederick Douglass and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. On Saturday, we will explore and enjoy a 3+ hour self-guided tour of the National Museum of African American History and Culture before driving back to Raleigh later that afternoon.

Please note:

  • This will be a walking pilgrimage, where we will cover several miles together each day, so please be advised and dress accordingly.
  • The registration amount covers all transportation costs, museum fees, and our hotel stay, but you will need to bring your own funds to cover all meals: Friday (lunch and dinner) and Saturday (breakfast, lunch and dinner) + any incidentals you may want to purchase along the way.
  • This is a pilgrimage, and not a site-seeing trip, which means we will spend intentional time preparing for our time together, as well as praying about and reflecting on our experience while we are there.
